It used to be that a home was just a home, our car just a car and a job was only a 9-5 for one employer.
Things have changed.
New platforms like Airbnb, Uber, Spacer and Airtasker mean we can turn our home into a B&B, our car into a taxi, our spare room into storage and share our skills with anyone and everyone – and you can do it all with one click.
With all change and new opportunities come new risks. Your home may be damaged by guests or your car dented in an accident. In these situations, many platforms and insurers won’t provide you with the cover you need or want.
That is why ShareCover exists.
We’re here to help people utilise their assets freely, without exposing them to unnecessary risks. We’ve been doing this for years. So if you’re renting out your property, you’re a rideshare driver or a freelance worker, we’re the best place to get covered.
ShareCover is proudly backed by Australia's largest insurance group, Insurance Australia Group (IAG).
IAG is Australia and New Zealand's leading general insurance company with a purpose to help make your world a safer place, whether you are a customer, partner, employee, shareholder or part of the communities IAG serves across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Our businesses have helped people recover from natural disasters, accidents and loss since 1851. We employ more than 15,000 people in our operations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam, providing insurance under many leading brands, including NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO, SGIC, WFI and Lumley Insurance (Australia); NZI, State, AMI and Lumley Insurance (New Zealand); Safety and NZI (Thailand); and AAA Assurance (Vietnam). We also have interests in general insurance joint ventures in Malaysia, India and China.
Increasingly, we see our role extending beyond paying claims to increasing awareness of risk, and helping communities reduce and prevent risk. We believe it is our responsibility as an industry leader to use our influence and role as a major investor, purchaser and employer for the good of everyone.

The General Insurance Code of Practice outlines certain minimum standards of service that you should expect from insurers that have adopted the Code.
The standards covered by the Code include buying and renewing insurance, claims handling and complaints handling. We've adopted the Code and we're committed to complying with it.
The Code Governance Committee is an independent body that monitors and enforces insurers’ compliance with the Code.
For more information on the General Insurance Code of Practice and the Code Governance Committee visit the website.
We aim to develop and distribute retail insurance that meets our customers’ likely needs, objectives and financial situations.
From 5 October 2021, we’ll provide Target Market Determinations (TMD) to explain the groups of customers that we sell each retail insurance product to.
ShareCover is issued by Insurance Australia Limited ABN 11 000 016 722 AFS Licence No. 227681 trading as ShareCover Enterprises. When making decisions about a product, always read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination available on this website. For home policies, please also read our Key Fact Sheets (KFS) for buildings and contents which set out some of the events/risks covered and not covered by our home policies and other information you should consider. These sheets do not provide a complete statement of the cover offered, exclusions, conditions and limits that apply under the policies. You should carefully read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and all policy documentation for more details.
